Funders for a Ceasefire Now is a coalition of individual donors, philanthropic organizations, and other foundations advocating for a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. 1 The conflict was started on October 7, 2023, when members of the terrorist group Hamas crossed into Israel from the Gaza Strip and killed over 1,400 Israelis while taking over 230 hostages back into Gaza, including Americans. 2

The Funders for a Ceasefire Now released a, “Philanthropy Open Letter for Humanity and Justice,” calling for a ceasefire in the conflict, passage of humanitarian aid into Gaza, demanding the U.S and Europe cease all funding to the Israeli military, and the safe release of all hostages. 3 The coalition also blames the events on October 7 on Israel, claiming it was due to, “the decades of systematic violence, military occupation and displacement that all Palestinians, especially in Gaza, have experienced at the hands of the Israeli government.” 4
