PRBB Foundation is a left-of-center grantmaking foundation that primarily focuses on supporting women’s advocacy, environmentalist, and other left-of-center causes. 1 According to Inside Philanthropy, PRBB foundation also supports the critical race theory-influenced concepts of indigenous rights, racial justice, and environmental justice in the United States and abroad. 2

PRBB Foundation was founded in 2006 with a with a private grant. 9

Louise Davis has been the president of the PRBB Foundation since 2007. Prior to joining PRBB, Davis worked at the American Prairie Foundation. 10 She has participated in workshops and events hosted by the Women’s Funding Network. 11

Activities and Funding

PRBB Foundation is a private left-of-center grantmaking foundation that primarily focuses on supporting women’s advocacy, environmentalist, and other left-of-center causes. 12 According to Inside Philanthropy, PRBB Foundation supports the critical race theory-influenced concepts of racial justice, environmental justice, and indigenous rights in the United States and abroad. 13

On its website, PRBB Foundation suggests visitors to its website consult with, join, and donate to various left-of-center groups on women’s issues including FRIDA (The Young Feminist Fund), Global Fund for Women, Peace and Security Funders Group, Prospera: International Network of Women’s Funds, Women’s Funding Network, Women’s March Global, and Women for Women International. 14

Grantmaking

PRBB Foundation relies on a global network of partners and peer advisors to support its global network of grantees with a focus on left-of-center social change for women and children, environmentalist causes, and other activities in the United States and in developing countries. 15

PRBB Foundation relies on its global network of advisors from other international organizations to identify potential grantees, who are normally women or minority-led organizations. 16 17 As a result, the foundation does not accept unsolicited grant proposals. 18 19 Its grants usually range in size between $5,000 and $15,000 20 and target groups with annual budgets of less than $1,000,000. 21 Half of PRBB Foundation’s grantmaking takes place in the United States, with an emphasis on Maine, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. 22

In 2023, PRBB Foundation made grants to the far-left BlackOUT Collective, Classical Uprising, Freedom Lodge, Louisiana Bucket Brigade, The Omid Foundation, Our Indigenous Lifeways, Owe Aku, Pastoral Womens Council, Uniting Resilience, Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network, Where All Women are Honored, Women Enabled International, and other groups supporting environmentalist causes, liberalizing immigration, and left-of-center humanitarian issues. 23

PRBB Foundation is a member of Exponent Philanthropy, Peace and Security Funders Group, and Women’s Funding Network. 24 25 The foundation also signed the Council on Foundations’ COVID-19-related grantmaking principles 26 and is a funding partners of Women for Afghan Women. 27

Funding

PRBB Foundation receives its funding from dividends and interests of securities and sale of assets.
