New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Education Fund
The New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (NJLCVEF) is the educational arm of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, an advocacy group that supports left-of-center climate policy and candidates. 1 It is also the state-level affiliate of the national League of Conservation Voters Education Fund. As a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit, NJLCVEF is officially nonpartisan. 2
NJLCVEF collaborated with other left-of-center climate groups to develop a 2026 Environmental Policy Guide. 5 This guide serves as policy recommendations for the next governor. New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, the group’s sister electoral advocacy arm, endorsed U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) for Governor. 1
NJLCVEF promotes offshore wind as part of its goal to transition away from hydrocarbon energy. One of the reasons it lists in support of offshore wind is that it will create more unionized jobs in New Jersey. 6
Finances
In 2023, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Education Fund reported revenues of $1,640,375, expenses of $2,685,540, and assets of $1,075,835. 7
As part of its expenses, NJLCVEF spent $1,126,729 funding the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance and the New Jersey Progressive Equitable Energy Coalition. It funds these groups “to ensure organizations are led by people of color and serving communities of color.” 7
In 2023, NJLCVEF spent $125,000 on lobbying. The organization spent a total of $345,000 on lobbying from 2019 to 2023. NJLCVEF also spent $278,900 on grants. Recipients of the grants include New York League of Conservation Voters, NJ Future, and the Pinelands Preservation Alliance. 7
General operating support to continue advocacy for equitable policies with respect to environmental justice, air emissions, climate change mitigation, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
