    The organization has produced more than 150 educational films, held 68 activism events, and trained more than 100 indigenous people to be public awareness activists in their respective countries. 6 Works of If Not Us Then Who’s activists have been featured in media outlets including the BBC, the Guardian, and the New York Times, and by organizations such as the Ford Foundation, a private grantmaking foundation with a history of giving to left-of-center causes, as well as the United Nations Foundation, a private charitable nonprofit organization that supports the initiatives and advocacy of the United Nations. 7

    If Not Us Then Who partners with several left-of-center indigenous climate change and conservation advocacy organizations, including the Climate Action Network, Friends of the Earth, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Nature Conservancy, and the Tenure Facility. 5

    If Not Us Then Who supports indigenous peoples’ demands for tribal land recognition and informed consent for use of ancestral lands. 8

    Funding

    If Not Us Then Who received $1.57 million in four grants from 2019 to 2022 from the Ford Foundation, a private grantmaking foundation with a history of giving to left-of-center causes. 2 The foundation gave for general support and for education of the public on the effects of climate change on indigenous people. 2

    People

    Paul Redman is the founder and executive director of If Not Us Then Who. 3 He has worked as a freelance environmental documentary filmmaker and a staffer for the Environmental Investigation Agency, an environmentalist advocacy organization that documents alleged environmental crimes. 3

    Mina Setra is the board president of If Not Us Then Who. 1 She is a senior staffer of the Indigenous Peoples’ Alliance of the Archipelagos, an Indonesian indigenous peoples’ rights organization. 9

    Michael McGarrell is the board vice president of If Not Us Then Who. 1 He works for the Amerindian Peoples Association and the Confederation of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin, a South American indigenous peoples’ rights organization. 10

    Bill Pullman is the board secretary of If Not Us Then Who. 1 He is a film, television, and stage actor. 11
