The Climate Organizing Hub (COH) is an environmental activist group that pushes for divestment from conventional energy companies. COH claims that “abolishing the fossil fuel industry is the main way to meaningfully address climate change.” 1
COH is fiscally sponsored by the New York Communities Organizing Fund (NYCOFI). 2
Background
The Climate Organizing Hub (COH) advocates for a “Just Transition,” which it calls disinvestment from industrial plants, energy pipelines, and “any expansions of the oil and gas industries.” 3 COH advocates for pensions, investment funds, and other asset funds to divest from conventional energy companies as well. On its website, the COH claims to advocate for, “Black, Brown and immigrant communities who are already facing the worst impacts of climate injustice.” 3
The Climate Organizing Hub is fiscally sponsored by left-of-center group New York Communities Organizing Fund (NYCOFI). As of May 2025, COH’s “donate” page redirects to NYCOFI’s website. 2 1
Activities
In June 2023, the Climate Organizing Hub (COH) co-organized National Days of Action to End the Era of Fossil Fuels, a series of protests advocating for the Biden administration to transition from reliance on conventional fuels and traditional forms of energy. Other co-organizers included Fridays For Future International, Project Sunrise, 350.org, the Indigenous Environmental Network, the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), Zero Hour, the 350 Network Council, and People vs. Fossil Fuels. 4 5
In September 2023, COH, Extinction Rebellion, and other climate activist groups demonstrated inside and outside the Brooklyn-based Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) to protest MoMA board member Marie-Josee Kravis, whose husband, Henry Kravis, had previously invested in energy companies through his investment firm, KKR & Co. Inc. Protesters demanded that MoMA remove Kravis from its board and reject donations from the couple. 6
That same month COH joined with New York Communities for Change, Extinction Rebellion NYC, 350.org, and other climate activist groups to protest outside and block the entrance to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to protest support for energy companies by financial institutions. New York Communities for Change’s environmental campaigns director Alice Nascimento claimed in a statement to Mother Jones that “[f]ossil fuel companies…wouldn’t be able to operate without money, and that money is coming primarily from Wall Street.” 7
In 2024, COH joined with New York Communities for Change, Planet Over Profit, and Stop the Money Pipeline to organize the “Summer of Heat” campaign protesting Citigroup for its investments in energy companies. Activists protested outside Citigroup’s headquarters in lower Manhattan, while over 600 individuals were arrested in total, including COH executive director Jonathan Westin. 8 9

Westin has previously worked for several activist campaigns including Occupy Wall Street and the Fight for $15 campaign. Westin is also active within the Working Families Party (WFP). 11 12 In 2023, Westin earned $65,308 from COH. 10
