Blueprint Texas

Strategy

As of 2026, Blueprint Texas argued that Democrats should focus on Texas because it is one of the few states that was expected to gain Democratic-leaning U.S. Congressional seats after the 2030 U.S. Congressional redistricting process. In that vein, the group also argues that with effective campaign efforts, Texas could be swung from Republican to Democratic in national elections in 2032, effectively making up for expected losses in historically Democratic-leaning states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada. ^{2 3}

The organization has raised and spent money to support Democratic candidates for the Texas State House, Texas State Senate, and U.S. Congressional seats to build support across the state for the Democratic Party. Partner organizations in these efforts have included the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Powered by People, and the Texas Majority PAC. ⁴

Leadership

Democratic politician Wendy Davis is a co-founder of Blueprint Texas. Davis was a Texas State Senator from 2009 to 2015. In 2014, she unsuccessfully ran for governor of Texas, and in 2020, she unsuccessfully ran to represent the state’s 21st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. ^{1  5  6}

Since 2025, Davis has run her own political consulting firm. Since 2023, she has also worked as a senior advisor to Planned Parenthood Texas Votes. In 2021, she reportedly founded Defend the Frontline, a group that raises funds for abortion providers, and in 2016, she reportedly founded Deeds Not Words, a left-of-center nonprofit group focused on encouraging female involvement in political activism, leading the group until 2019. ^{1 5 6}

Matt Angle is a cofounder of Blueprint Texas. Previously, he worked as an operative in Texas Democratic Party politics, including as chief of staff to former U.S. Rep. Martin Frost (D-TX). Since 2005, he has been the director of the Texas Democratic Trust, an organization which finances state election efforts. He also founded and, as of August 2026, was directing the Lone Star Project, a Democratic PAC. ^{1 7}

As of August 2026, David Wysong worked for Blueprint Texas as its statewide and national campaign and organizational strategist. From 2013 to 2019, he worked as the chief of staff for then-U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX). ^{1 8}

As of August 2026, Kajal Vekaria worked for Blueprint Texas as a campaign operations consultant. She was previously the head of scheduling operations for Texas state Representative James Talarico’s (D) 2026 U.S. Senate campaign. ¹

As of August 2026, Christopher Koob was the treasurer of Blueprint Texas, and a principal at MBA Consulting Group. Previously, he worked for left-of-center and Democratic Party organizations, including the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. ⁹

Funding

In its initial fundraising campaign, the group aimed to raise over $12 million, mostly for voter outreach, as well as over $1.5 million for research. ³

As of August 2026, according to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Blueprint Texas had raised $601,000 in federally reportable contributions. $600,000 of this sum came from Simone Otis Coxe, a Democratic Party donor, cofounder of left-of-center news outlet CalMatters, and spouse of venture capitalist billionaire and Nvidia board member Tench Coxe. The other $1,000 was donated by Blueprint Texas cofounder Wendy Davis. ¹⁰
