Jessica Byrd
Jessica Byrd is a political strategist and activist who claims to work to be a “relentless capacity builder for the independent Black Political Ecosystem.” 1 As of 2025 she has worked on advocacy campaigns in 43 states, has worked as a field organizer for Obama for America, and was chief of staff to Stacey Abrams. Byrd is one of the founding members of the Electoral Justice Project and created the Black National Convention, which are both projects of the Movement for Black Lives. 1 She is also the founder of Three Point Strategies and Black Camp. 2

Career
In 2007 Byrd began working as a field organizer for Obama for America, an advocacy group supporting the 2008 presidential campaign of then-U.S Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) prior to his election as president during the 2008 presidential election. In 2009 she worked for Organizing for Action, a political advocacy group that promoted left-of-center policies in support of the Obama Administration. In 2010, Byrd worked for the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency that was renamed AmeriCorps as of 2025. From 2011 through 2015 she worked as a program coordinator and manager of strategies for Emily’s List, an activist group that supports the campaigns of female Democratic candidates running for office that support pro-abortion programs and policies. 3
In 2015, Byrd founded Three Point Strategies, a consulting firm that promotes and advocates for the recruitment and election of African-American activists and politicians. 4 In 2023 she left Three Point Strategies to run Black Camp, an online and offline education program to help train African-American activists. 5 2

Three Point Strategies
Byrd founded Three Point Strategies in 2015 as Washington, D.C.-based political consulting firm that focused on promoting and supporting the campaigns of African-American women running for political office. According to its website, the organization argues “We are proud to be a radical, Black feminist, political consulting firm. We’re unapologetic about our love for Black women, Movement and winning.” 4
Three Point Strategies claims to have trained over 2,000 activists, held national conferences, and connected African-American activists around the United States. The firm closed in 2023 so that Byrd could run the education group Black Camp full-time. 6
Black Camp
Black Camp is Jessica Byrd’s personal education program that trains African-American activists on how to build influence while promoting left-of-center policies within local communities. 5 It is made up of both offline and online programs such as Black Camp DC, which Black Camp states “is an intentionally curated three day classroom installation for multiracial community leaders, rooted in Black history and culture.” 7
Movement for Black Lives
The Electoral Justice Project is a project of the Movement for Black Lives that operated during the 2018 and 2020 election cycles. The project was argued to be “driven by Black-led organizations across US that are engaged in radical political work…[in order to end the] disenfranchisement of formerly incarcerated folks and…especially Black voters.” 8 Byrd was cited as one of the organizing directors of the Electoral Justice Project as of 2025. 1
The Black National Convention was a 2020 project of the Movement for Black Lives. According to its website, the project was a “three-day gathering of 500 movement leaders from across the country [and]…present…[a] list of inclusive and expansive demands.” 9 Byrd was cited as the organizer of the Black National Convention. 1
