United We Eat Action Fund

The organization launched publicly in February 2026 and operates inside the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, while directing its campaigns principally at the second Trump administration and U.S. Congressional Republicans. In March 2026, it moved beyond food policy to oppose U.S. military action against Iran, organizing a petition campaign under the name Health Not War in support of congressional resolutions under the War Powers Act. ^{1 3 4}

Background

United We Eat Action Fund began activity in 2026, and the organization lists a North Grant Street address in Denver that it shares with United We Eat. United We Eat was founded by Dave Murphy ahead of the 2024 election, and the organization was described as a fundraising organization for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign for President.  ^{1 5} Murphy, who founded Food Democracy Now! and co-chaired the 2012 California ballot campaign to require labeling of genetically engineered foods, has written for the left-wing magazine The Nation, at the Huffington Post, and in The Hill. ²

The organization’s framing of the American food system attributes chronic disease and environmental harm to what it terms “Big Food,” industrial agriculture, and decades of unchecked corporate power and poor public policy. ¹ Its affiliated United We Eat operation distributes the same arguments through a Substack newsletter published under Murphy’s name. ⁶

Activities

United We Eat Action’s core activities are online petitioning and email list-building. Its petitions are hosted on the Action Network, and its solicitations run through a Donorbox appeal titled around stopping pesticide liability shields. ^{7 5}

The group has promoted a Change.org petition directed at U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, mounted in partnership with Family Farm Action, now known as Farm Action, and Moms Across America. The petition asserted that the United States has lost more than 162,220 farms since 2017 and faults the U.S. Department of Agriculture for prioritizing a prospective bailout for the largest commodity producers. ⁸

In August 2025, in a letter to President Donald Trump against chemical liability language in the fiscal year 2026 Interior appropriations bill, United We Eat Founder Dave Murphy said Republicans “must do more than ride the wave of MAHA’s high polling.” ³ Ahead of oral argument in Monsanto Co. v. Durnell in April 2026, he predicted the administration’s position would be “one of many things that costs them the midterms this year.” ⁹

Murphy was among the signatories of a coalition letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin asserting that the administration continues to approve and normalize chemical exposures while claiming to prioritize health. ¹⁰ After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled for Monsanto in June 2026, he described the Republican Party as a “morally bankrupt party,” according to the left-of-center Daily Beast. ¹¹

Health Not War

In March 2026, the organization announced a campaign styled “Health Not War” supporting War Powers Act resolutions sponsored by U.S. Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Tim Kaine (D-VA) and U.S. Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) that would bar further military action without congressional approval. Participants included Charles Eisenstein, who worked as the chief speechwriter for for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s 2024 presidential campaign, and Meryl Nass, a scientific advisor to Children’s Health Defense, who characterized the Iran conflict as an “anti-MAHA, anti-MAGA war” that benefited defense contractors, energy companies, and banks. ⁴

The left-of-center website Salon reported that Murphy criticized the administration’s conduct of the conflict and argued that supporters of the MAHA movement should be “putting the Constitution first.” Scripps News reported that campaign participants warned that MAHA-aligned voters were unlikely to support Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections. ^{12 13}
