Activities
Moms Across America (MAA) is a coalition that aligns with the MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) agenda of second Trump administration Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to take compassionate actions to create healthy communities. MAA promotes truth, health, and freedom and aims to create healthy families through safe, healthy foods. Moms Across America opposes the use of genetic engineering and the use of pesticides like glyphosate. 1
Moms Across America encourages its coalition members, comprised of moms and other concerned citizens, to get involved by participating in MAA events across the country, starting a local group, and sharing MAA’s information on harms caused by toxins in our environment, especially the those used in food production. MAA claims that avoiding genetically modified foods and pesticides improves health, which in turn supports community, future generations, and the prosperity of the country. 5
Criticism
Moms Across America has been criticized for overstating the dangers of glyphosate, an herbicide that is used in farming. In 2014, MAA, along with the organization Sustainable Pulse, released a report describing “high” levels of glyphosate in the breast milk of American women. The report also tested drinking water and urine samples for glyphosate and warned about the serious health and environmental hazards posed by glyphosate, including endocrine disruption, neurological disorders, DNA damage, cancer, and birth defects. 6
ScienceDIrect, a pro-science website rated with high credibility by Media Bias Fact Check, published an analysis of MAA’s 2014 report. ScienceDIrect noted that MAA’s report was conducted with a small sample size and not peer-reviewed. ScienceDIrect stated that the glyphosate concentrations detected did not pose a health risk to the public and that the data did not indicate breast milk bioaccumulation, as MAA’s report suggested. 7
Mothers Across the World
Mothers Across the World is the international initiative of Moms Across America, cofounded by MAA founder Zen Honeycutt and Vandana Shiva, founder of Navdanya and the international women’s network Diverse Women for Diversity. Moms Across the World aims to protect children by opposing genetically modified foods and pesticide use. 4
