MAHA Action is an advocacy group aligned with politician and second Trump administration Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 1 It says it is dedicated to “organizing and empowering Americans to advocate for a healthier America.” 2 The group is run by some of the same people who worked on Kennedy’s presidential campaign in 2024. 3
In the summer of 2025, it launched a six-figure national ad campaign celebrating the second Trump administration’s support of the “Make America Healthy Again” agenda. 4 The group also joined other MAHA advocates expressing disappointment in the administration’s pesticides policy. 5
Background
MAHA Action is an advocacy group aligned with politician and second Trump administration Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 1 It says it is dedicated to “organizing and empowering Americans to advocate for a healthier America.” 2
MAHA Action is the lobbying arm of the MAHA Institute, a think tank that promotes the “Make America Healthy Again” agenda. 6
It announced at its launch it would be run by some of the same people who had Kennedy’s 2024 presidential campaign. 3 MAHA Action said it “brings the same digital excellence, creative force, grassroots activism, and strategic results” of the Kennedy campaign to advocate reversing the “chronic disease epidemic.” 3
MAHA Action says the movement garnered support from parents, doctors, health advocates, and people across the political spectrum. 7
Policies and Advocacy
MAHA Action says that “Initiative One” is a clean and transparent food industry, arguing
Americans “deserve access to clean, organic, healthy food for our families and children.” It says food companies should face “accountability and responsibility” for the ingredients and marketing. 6
The group says “Initiative Two” is increased transparency and accountability for pharmaceutical companies. It calls for reforming the Prescription Drug User Fee Act. 6
In early December 2024, MAHA Action announced it would be rallying support for then-President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. 3
In July 2025, MAHA Action president Tony Lyons, who also runs MAHA Institute think tank and MAHA PAC, organized a call with hundreds of supporters of the MAHA movement. The prospect of a 2028 presidential campaign for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was a topic of discussion on the call, Axios reported. 8
Lyons said the organization will endorse ideologically aligned candidates for 2026, and added: “We will bring out every last MAHA mom, every health-conscious voter, everyone in America who is sick of being lied to by Big Pharma, Big Food and Big Ag.” 9
From July 22 through August 12, 2025, MAHA Action launched an ad campaign to support the second Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services’ “Make America Healthy Again” initiatives. The ads ran on cable outlets and online nationally. 10 The commercial described Secretary Kennedy and other Trump administration public health officials as “renegades,” and promoted efforts to phase out food dyes and additives. 1 The group spent more than $500,000 on the summer 2025 ad campaign, according to The Hill. 4
The organization praised Trump administration policies such as executive orders targeting toxic food additives, eliminating toxic and synthetic dyes from foods, closing the GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) loophole that it says allowed dangerous additives into the food supply, introducing plans to reform nutrition guidelines based on science rather than industry influence, and refocusing federal health agencies on chronic disease. 7 7 MAHA Action also commended Kellogg, Kraft Heinz, General Mills, Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Skittles, Steak ‘n Shake for commitments to phase out certain food dyes and other products. 7
The group says it is organizing for a “once in a generation opportunity to reverse the chronic disease epidemic and make America healthy.” 2 The organization says 43 percent of Americans have two or more chronic diseases, and says 90 percent of the $4.3 trillion spent annually on healthcare is linked to chronic disease. 6
MAHA Action tracks legislation at the state and federal levels, and features bills on its website such as an Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine in the South Carolina legislature, a pesticides bill in the Illinois legislature, and a bill in the Arkansas legislature to prohibit food stamps for soft drinks. 11 It also connects citizens with the lawmakers in their congressional and legislative districts. 11
In August 2025, a coalition of MAHA activists signed a letter to President Donald Trump opposing the administration’s pesticide policy. The letter argued that “creating broad liability protections for pesticides is a losing issue for your party and your coalition, and may well cost you the House majority in the midterms” and was signed by leaders from MAHA Action, Moms Across America, and the Kennedy-founded Children’s Health. 5
Leadership
As of 2025, Tony Lyons was the president of the MAHA Institute and MAHA Action, and led the MAHA PAC. Lyons is head of Skyhorse Publishing, which has published several past books written by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. before he was Health and Human Services secretary. 6 8
At that time, Del Bigtree was the CEO of MAHA Action. Bigtree was the communications director for Kennedy’s 2024 presidential campaign. 3
Brigid Rasmussen was the chief operating officer of MAHA Action. She is the former chief of staff for Team Kennedy. 12 3
