The Pollinator Partnership is an organization dedicated to the environmentalist agenda of preserving animal pollinators through educational efforts and conservation. ¹ The organization was founded in the late 1990s by Paul Growald, a philanthropist and entrepreneur who co-founded the Growald Family Fund with his wife, Rockefeller family heiress Eileen Rockefeller Growald. ² He is currently the chairman emeritus of the Pollinator Partnership. ³

Activities

The organization runs and participates in a number of programs. The Pollinator Partnership’s Bee Friendly Farmer program provides resources to farmers and an online certification program for bee-safe farming principles. ⁴ The organization also runs Monarch Wings Across America, a program that encourages the cultivation of monarch-friendly habitats by planting an assortment of nectar-supplying plants. ⁵

The Pollinator Partnership also participates in the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign, a growing coalition of public, private, and non-profit partners working to encourage the health and conservation efforts of migratory pollinators. ⁶ Partners include a variety of international agencies spanning Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., as well as corporate partners such as Bayer, Boeing, and Waste Management. Non-profit partners include organizations such as the American Farm Bureau Federation, Defenders of Wildlife, National Farmers Union, and the World Wildlife Fund. ⁷

Finances

According to 2018 tax returns, the Pollinator Partnership received more than $1.14 million in contributions and grants and distributed grants to universities for research, among them the University of Illinois and the University of Vermont. The organization recorded a total revenue of $1.19 million in 2018. ⁸

Leadership

Laurie Davies Adams is the president and CEO of the Pollinator Partnership. Previously, she was the executive director of the Pollinator Partnership for more than 20 years. She is also the vice-chair of the Wildlife Habitat Council’s board,⁹ an organization providing consulting services to help businesses meet biodiversity and environmentalist goals. ¹⁰
