Firebrand Collective LLC is a left-wing production company that “[creates] content at the intersection of culture and politics” co-founded by Sarah Sophie Flicker and Paola Mendoza, two of the co-founders of the Women’s March On Washington. 1 The organization supports campaigns on abortion-access and LGBT advocacy. 2 3

Advocacy

Trans Prom

In May 2023, Firebrand co-produced Trans Prom, a protest held on the front lawn of the U.S. Capitol to celebrate transgender people and advocate for transgender interests. 4

Doctors for Abortion Access

In November 2022, Firebrand organized a pro-abortion access protest for medical professionals from 14 states in Washington, D.C. 5

Abortion in Freedom Drone Action

Also in November 2022, Firebrand organized a drone light show in Philadelphia to support abortion access. 6

Green Hand Print Video

Also in November 2022, Firebrand produced a video attempting to bring the Green Hand Print (also known as the Green Wave), a protest for abortion access in Argentina, to the United States. 7

Banner Drop

In June 2022, Firebrand launched Banner Drop, a “civil disobedience” campaign consisting of placing pro-abortion-access banners in public locations, including on the Statue of Liberty. 8

United States of Abortion

Firebrand, the Meteor (a similar production company), and Obstetricians for Reproductive Justice co-produced United States of Abortion, a video demonstrating purported negative impacts of the overturn of Roe v. Wade in June 2022. The video debuted in People Magazine. 9

Dobbs Decision Rally

In May 2022, Firebrand organized the Dobbs Decision Rally protest in New York City with Planned Parenthood against the Dobbs v. Jackson U.S. Supreme Court decision which overturned Roe v. Wade and its purported national constitutional right to abortion. 10

Act for Abortion

In January 2022, Firebrand led a protest in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Roe v. Wade during deliberations on Dobbs v. Jackson. 11

Joy to the Polls

In October and November 2020, Firebrand and the Working Families Party launched Joy To The Polls, a get-out-the-vote campaign promoting voting through music concerts. 12

Families Belong Together

In July 2018, Firebrand, MoveOn.org, and the National Domestic Workers Alliance launched Families Belong Together, a protest against then-President Donald Trump’s family separation immigration policy. 13

Leadership

Sarah Sophie Flicker is co-founder of Firebrand. She is also a co-founder of the Women’s March on Washington, the Resistance Revival Chorus, the Citizens Band, the Meteor, and Joy To The Polls. Flicker is an artist who first became active in left-wing activism in college through LGBT advocacy and has been involved in get-out-the vote efforts. In a 2018 interview, Flicker expressed support for Black Lives Matter, gun control, intersectionality, and other left-wing positions. 14 15

Paola Mendoza is a co-founder of Firebrand and frequent collaborator with Flicker who also co-founded the Women’s March On Washington, the Resistance Revival Chorus, the Meteor, Joy To The Polls, and the Soze Agency. She is a fellow at Race Forward, Opportunity Agenda, Gender Justice, and Becoming America. Paola is a film director who has made “Entre Nos,” “Free Like the Birds,” and “Autumn’s Eyes.” 16

Meredith Shepard works with Firebrand. Shepard is an activist and organizer who has worked on voter engagement projects with the Democratic National Committee, Fair Fight, Families Belong Together, Onward Together, the United Nations Social Good Summit, Joy To the Polls, and Act for Abortion. Shepard has worked for over 25 years in human resources for companies including Comedy Central and Weight Watchers International. 17

Nelini Stamp works with Firebrand. She is the national organizing director of the Working Families Party and participated in Occupy Wall Street. Stamp also co-founded the Resistance Revival Chorus, #ResistTrumpTuesdays, Joy to the Polls, DREAM Defenders, and the Freedom Side. 18

Ginny Sus works with Firebrand. She is the co-founder and manager of the Resistance Revival Chorus, as well as the co-founder of Okayafrica.com and Joy To The Polls, and the founder of her own company, Ginny Suss Productions. She was also a “producer” for the Women’s March on Washington. 19 20
