Texas Organizing Project PAC is the political action committee (PAC) counterpart to the Texas Organizing Project, a left-of-center political advocacy group oriented around organizing Black and Latino residents of Texas’s largest metropolitan areas through statewide advocacy campaigns. 1

Texas Organizing Project PAC was registered with the Federal Election Commission by its treasurer Steven Halvorson on August 31, 2020 as a 527 political action committee with an address in San Antonio, Texas. 2 It shares its website with its 501(c)(4) counterpart the Texas Organizing Project and the 501(c)(3) Texas Organizing Project Education Fund. 1

Activities

In the 2020 election cycle, Texas Organizing Project PAC spent a total of $768,228 in independent expenditures and communications costs in support of the candidacy of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and $379,276 against his opponent, President Donald Trump. Additionally, the PAC respectively spent sums ranging between $16,021 and $33,684 in support of Democratic candidates for Texas congressional seats, including Wendy Davis, Sri Kulkarni, Sima Ladjevardian, Candace Valenzuela, and then-Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX). 3

Donors to the Texas Organizing Project PAC have included its parent organization, the Texas Organizing Project, as well as major left-of-center groups such as the Sixteen Thirty Fund (sometimes styled 1630 fund), MoveOn.org Political Action, Tides Advocacy (formerly the Tsunami Fund, the Advocacy Fund, and the Tides Advocacy Fund), and Way to Lead. 4
