Indivisible Nevadans was a chapter of the Indivisible Project, which was founded to oppose the policies of the Trump administration. It was aligned with left-of-center groups like the Peoples Climate Movement (PCM) ¹ and March for Our Lives Las Vegas ² and politicians such as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). ³

The organization’s website and social media presence suggest it may have ceased operations by early 2022. ⁴ As of 2023, the organization still appears to be defunct.

Organization

There were two different Indivisible groups that represented the state of Nevada for the parent organization, the Indivisible Project. One was “Together We’re Indivisible Nevada” that uses “Indivisible Nevada” in its logo. It focused on educating voters and advancing left-progressive social policies. On January 23, 2020, it posted that it would no longer be an affiliate of the Indivisible Project because, “It is devastating to know that an organization that started and has succeeded due to grassroots work can be so removed from the values they claim to hold.” ⁵ The second was Indivisible Nevadans. ⁶

The Indivisible Project was founded primarily by Democratic congressional staffers who chose the name as an emblem of unity against President Donald Trump. Inspired by the conservative “tea party” movement’s success in opposing the Obama administration, Indivisible copied its strategy of locally driven efforts. Its efforts spawned more than 5,000 affiliate groups throughout the United States. ⁷

Activity

The two Indivisible groups that represented the state of Nevada for the Indivisible Project have no recent activity on their websites as of early 2022. Indivisible Nevadans’ last Facebook post was August 4, 2019. Its group page had 430 likes. ⁸

Together We’re Indivisible Nevada made its last post in March of 2021 and 145 people followed its Facebook group. ⁹

As of 2023 both organizations appear to be defunct.

Affiliates

Indivisible Nevadans were a partner organization to the national environmentalist group, Peoples Climate Movement (PCM). ¹⁰ PCM advocates for a variety of left-of-center causes including the Green New Deal and “a climate action platform rooted in economic and racial justice.” ¹¹

Indivisible Nevadans joined the March for Our Lives Las Vegas gun control protest, stating, “we will not stop marching until we vote out all the elected officials that ignore our collective voice demanding NEVER AGAIN!” ¹²

Advocacy

Indivisible Nevada’s political positions included opposing alleged U.S. imperialism by former President George H.W. Bush. Indivisible Nevadans staged protests in Las Vegas against the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. ¹³

Indivisible Nevadans Facebook page had a call-to-action link, which directs users to U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ webpage. It featured a series of Sanders events in Nevada. ¹⁴

Indivisible Nevadans endorsed Amy Vilela, ¹⁵ a Democrat candidate who lost in a primary for the Nevada’s 4th Congressional District ¹⁶ on a platform of “fighting for social, racial, economic & climate justice for all.” ¹⁷
