Campaign for Our Shared Future Action Fund is a project of the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a lobbying and advocacy group within the left-of-center pass-through funding network managed by Arabella Advisors. Campaign for Our Shared Future Action Fund is the advocacy arm of the Campaign for Our Shared Future, a project within the Arabella-managed network that opposes initiatives to limit the teaching of critical race theory and related ideologies in public schools. 1

Background

The Campaign for Our Shared Future Action Fund is a project of the Sixteen Thirty Fund, the 501(c)(4) advocacy arm within the left-of-center pass-through funding network managed by Arabella Advisors. It is a sister organization to the Campaign for Our Shared Future, a project of New Venture Fund, a charitable organization within the Arabella Advisors network. 2

The Campaign for Our Shared Future opposes anti-critical race theory laws and campaigns relating to K-12 education. The group claims its aims are “reframing the debate in favor of inclusion, representation, equity and truth.” 3

The Campaign for Our Shared Future says it is an 18-month campaign that began in May 2022. 4

A job posting from the Campaign for Our Shared Future claimed that group had raised $6.6 million from private individuals and institutions and is attempting to raise $6.5 million more in private contributions. 6

Fiscal Sponsorship

Campaign for Our Shared Future Action Fund is a project of the Sixteen Thirty Fund, founded in 2008. The Sixteen Thirty Fund is an incubator group for 501(c)(4) advocacy organization, sponsoring multiple organizations and in some cases spinning them off to independent nonprofits. 7

Other than the Sixteen Thirty Fund and New Venture Fund, Arabella Advisors also manages the Windward Fund, Hopewell Fund and North Fund. The network raised $1.6 billion from left-of-center donors in 2020. 8

Left-leaning media outlets have characterized the Sixteen Thirty Fund and the Arabella Advisors network as “dark money,” usually meaning donors are not readily disclosed. The New York Times identified Sixteen Thirty Fund as one of the “leading dark money spenders on the Left” for backing Democrats by “help[ing] create and fund dozens of groups.” 9 The Atlantic called the Sixteen Thirty Fund a “massive progressive dark-money group.” 10
