    The group was started in 1965 as the family foundation of David Logan, a businessman and investor, and his wife Reva. 1 2 3 It is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. 4

    History

    The Reva and David Logan Foundation’s biography of David Logan on its website described him as having been “one of the richest men in Chicago,” but not a member of “the city’s gentry.” David met his future wife Reva at the University of Chicago; he graduated from its law school in 1941. The two would start the Logan Foundation in 1965. 2

    In 2020, the Foundation provided several grants to media advocacy group 100Reporters, news coalition ACOS Alliance, human rights activist group Invisible Institute, and criminal justice reform group Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law. That same year, the group provided grants to several social justice and media projects operated by or related to NEO Philanthropy. These included the Bristol Cable, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, the Centre for Investigative Journalism, Declassified Media, Disclose, and Disruption Network Lab. 7
