Activities
In response to the 2020 protests following the police-involved death of George Floyd, Kairos Action joined forces with the Movement for Black Lives, BYP100, Media Justice, and 18 Million Rising to launch the “Tech Is Not Neutral” campaign. The movement accused technology and social media companies of using technology to discriminate against users, advocating for policies aimed at protecting ethnic minorities. 2
In July 2020, KA urged companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to take concrete actions beyond rhetoric supporting Black Lives Matter, such as ending contracts with local police. 2
Following the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, the Facebook Oversight Board temporarily banned then-President Donald Trump from the platform. In September 2021, KA criticized Facebook for not removing all posts and content related to the then-former President. 2
