The CBN offers resources for enhancing faith through prayer and devotionals, and produces news stories, tv and radio shows, podcasts, and animations to spread its Biblical message of hope.  1

The CBN family of ministries includes Operation Blessing, CBN films, CBN Israel, and Helping the Homefront. 1

    History

The Christian Broadcasting Network was founded in 1960 and aired its first broadcast in 1961 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Its founder, Pat Robertson, conducted the CBN’s first telethon in 1963 instead of taking money from commercial advertisers, asking for 700 contributors to give $10 a month, which would cover the show’s 1964 budget and effectively create the “700 Club” telethon and daily television program. 3

Today, CBN provides programming to nearly 200 countries, through cable, broadcast, and satellite, and offers a 24-hour telephone prayer line.  3

    Activities

    Operation Blessing

Operation Blessing (OB) is the humanitarian-aid arm of the Christian Broadcasting Network that aims to alleviating human suffering in the U.S. and abroad. OB provides medical care, clean water, hunger relief, child development, and disaster response. Operation Blessing solicits donations from the Chrisitan community to support its work. 4

    CBN Israel

CBN Israel exists to strengthen Christian support for Israel by telling the story of Israel as a Jewish nation and inspire Christians worldwide to support the State of Israel and its people. CBN Israel aims to build bridges of understanding, hope, and healing between Jews and Christians by reshaping global conversation about Israel. 5

CBN Israel uses its funding to provide humanitarian aid to people in Israel, distribute faith-based, truthful news from Israel, produce films about the Biblical foundation of Israel, and train future Christian leaders who will advocate for Israel and oppose antisemitism and disinformation.  5

CBN Israel reported more than $8.6 million in total revenue in 2023.  6

    Funding

The Christian Broadcasting Network is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses. While the CBN does not disclose its donors, tax filings confirm donations from the Christian Community Foundation of Memphis and the Mid-South ($1.8 million in 2021),  7 the National Christian Charitable Foundation ($846,844 in 2024),  8 and the International Generosity Foundation Trust ($340,000 in 2024). 9

The CBN claimed over $282 million in revenue in 2024. 10

    Grantmaking

The Christian Broadcasting Network made over $27 million in grants in 2024. The CBN’s largest contribution was to its sister organization, Operation Blessing International, which received more than $10 million from CBN for humanitarian purposes in 2024. The CBN also provided grants to organizations that support Christian education and outreach, anti-trafficking efforts, Jewish communities and causes, child development, and other initiatives.  11
