Nitz is also a partner at workbenchstrategy and was previously a partner at Fireside Campaigns, a left-of-center political communications firm that works with Democratic Party candidates and left-of-center organizations like Black Lives Matter; a deputy director at EMILY’s List, a political organization that works to elect pro-abortion Democratic women to political office; a deputy targeting director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the principal campaign committee of the Democratic Party tasked with fundraising for and conducting advocacy supporting the Democratic Party’s campaign efforts for the U.S. House of Representatives; and an intern for then-U.S. Representative Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). 3 2
Nitz claims to have worked on a digital media campaign for EMILY’s List to turnout millennial women to support abortion through sponsored content and celebrity ads. Nitz has also trained left-of-center activists associated with the League of Conservation Voters; a 501(c)(4) organization that promotes candidates supporting the environmentalist agenda; the National Democratic Institute (NDI), a Democratic Party-associated institute that works to increase the effectiveness of democratic institutions abroad; Lillian’s List, an activist organizations modeled after EMILY’s List that recruits and supports pro-abortion candidates running for office in North Carolina; EMILY’s List; the DCCC; and the now-defunct New Organizing Institute, which was a left-of-center group that trained digital organizers and campaigners for the Democratic Party. 2
Nitz claims to have managed over $560,000 in digital ad buys in 2014 for EMILY’s List in order to influence the Wisconsin gubernatorial race and other political races in North Carolina. In 2016, he managed $10 million in digital expenditures for EMILY’s List in order to support the presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton.” 5
Nitz also partnered with Women Vote!, an organization that supports left-of-center and Democratic Party candidates for public office, in developing a BuzzFeed video attempting to persuade Millennial voters that America under President Donald Trump would be dystopic. 6
