Georgina Bloomberg is a philanthropist, animal activist, competitive equestrian, and daughter of former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg. 1

Georgina Bloomberg is a board member of her father’s charitable trust the Bloomberg Family Foundation. She sits on the board of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), and is board chair of its supporting organization Humane Generation of New York. She is also vice president of Animal Aid US. 2

Animal Activism

Related to her career as a competitive equestrian, Bloomberg supports the equestrian rights group EQQUS, and is one of organization’s EQQUstars, a group of celebrities who work as its ambassadors to the public. She has been involved with more controversial animal advocacy groups, most notably the Humane Society of the United States, which critics contend is principally interested in an anti-animal-use vegan agenda. 4 Bloomberg sits on the board of HSUS 5 and has chaired the group’s Humane Generation New York philanthropic outreach program. 6

Emma and Georgina Bloomberg Foundation

Bloomberg is also a trustee, along with her philanthropist sister Emma Bloomberg, of the foundation that bears their names, the Emma and Georgina Bloomberg Foundation. It supports education and animal rights groups. In 2021 this organization donated more than $1 million total to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, DogTrust USA, and Animal Medical Center of New York. Smaller donations were given to New Classrooms Innovation Partners, Stand for Children Leadership Center, and the KIPP Foundation. 7
