Background

The Asia Natural Gas and Energy Association is an energy organization based in Singapore. ANGEA purports to work with governments, communities, and industries across Asia to provide solutions that promote decarbonisation, economic growth, and “energy security.” On its website, ANGEA claims that its work allows nations to access natural gas and liquefied natural gas to support “Asia’s transition away from the high-emitting coal.” ¹

ANGEA was founded in October 2021 by several energy companies, including the American energy conglomerates Chevron and ExxonMobil. ANGEA was founded to advise governments in developing energy policies, including weather-dependent energy and conservation projects, to achieve the climate goals as established by the Paris Agreement. ⁵

ANGEA’s board of directors is comprised of senior representatives of its member companies, which include Chevron, ExxonMobil, JERA, JGC, and multinational oil and gas company BP. ^{1 6}

Core policies of ANGEA include decarbonization and ensuring nations across Asia have enough natural gas and liquefied natural gas to support transition from coal. ⁷

The organization also sent a letter in January 2024 to then[-U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, in which ANGEA advocated new natural gas infrastructure links in the United States and speeding up non-free trade agreement authorizations on liquefied natural gas that can reach the Pacific. ⁹

People

As of June 2026, Paul Everingham was the CEO of the Asia Natural Gas and Energy Association. Everingham was the executive director and CEO of the right-leaning Liberal Party of Australia from January 2003 to December 2005; was the CEO of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia from June 2018 to May 2022; and was the non-executive officer of Volt Power Group from April 2022 to July 2025. He became the CEO of ANGEA in August 2022. ¹⁰

Jurt Glaubitz is a co-founder of ANGEA. He began working in the energy sector as a contract writer for the public affairs group of the Chevron Corporation in 1990. Glaubitz moved to working at the Bank of America from 1991 until 2000, when he left his position as senior vice president of corporate affairs. ¹¹

Glaubitz returned to Chevron in 2002 and became the general manager of corporate affairs in November 2022 until June 2024. As of 2026, he was listed as the president of Glaubitz Energy Advisory. ¹¹
