Vote For Your Life is a get-out-the-vote campaign created by ViacomCBS and the Advertising Council (Ad Council). The Ad Council is an organization that creates center-left and left-of-center media campaigns by providing funding to execute expensive nationwide television and internet campaigns.
Vote For Your Life was created as a website to increase voter turnout during the 2020 presidential election. The campaign helped individuals to check their voter registration status, encouraged voters to vote through mail-in ballots, and directed them to a website operated by When We All Vote. When We All Vote is a Democratic Party-aligned organization created by former First Lady Michelle Obama and funded by the New Venture Fund. Former First Lady Michelle Obama stated in 2018 that she created the organization to address poor Democratic Party voter turnout in 2010 and 2014.
While Vote For Your Life is a project of ViacomCBS and the Ad Council, it also receives funding and support from other media companies. The companies that have partnered with Vote For Your Life include VH1, MTV, Comedy Central, TuneIn, plutoTV, and AwesomenessTV.
Vote For Your Life has also received funding and support from non-media related companies, including Simon and Schuster, AdTheorent, GumGum, Chegg, and Kargo.
Despite claiming to be nonpartisan, Vote For Your Life has also received funding from left-of-center race-centered policy and election-law organizations, including Equis Labs, Broadway Green Alliance, Vote Early Day, More in Common, National Black Justice Coalition, National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), Millennial Action Project, Florida Rights Restoration Project, the Election Protection Coalition, and Alliance for Youth Organizing.
