Resist US-Led War Movement is a left-of-center activist group created after a 2017 “Solidarity and Fightback: Building Resistance to US-led War, Militarism, and Neofascism” Conference at the University of Toronto. During the conference, a manifesto was created and signed calling global action against “US-led imperialist war and militarism,” claiming it to be the source of “war, militarism and neo-fascism” around the world. ^{1 2 3}

Founding and History

Resist US-Led War Movement was founded in 2017 as a result of the “Solidarity and Fightback: Building Resistance to US-led War, Militarism, and Neofascism” Conference that took place at the University of Toronto between August 5-7, 2017. During the conference, a “For a Just Peace, Resist US-Led War” manifesto was created and signed calling for global action against “US-led imperialist war and militarism”, leading to the creation of the group. ^{4 5}

The manifesto’s demands include a withdrawal of all US military troops, protesting against the “US military-industrial complex” as well as an end to war games and exercises. The manifesto also calls for action to fight “Zionism, apartheid, and systemic racism.” ⁶

Organization Philosophy

Resist US-Led War Movement advances claims that global issues of “war, militarism and neo-fascism” are the due to the United States as well as the “global capitalist system.” ^{7 8}

The group’s website promotes a web event on fascism claiming “Fascists. Fascists everywhere.” ⁹

As of September 2024, the group’s X (formerly Twitter) page promotes anti-Israel sentiment and advocating protests against the U.S. military. ¹⁰

The group issued a statement after Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee in the 2024 presidential election, in which it declared that former President Donald Trump was a fascist and that Harris too supportive of Israel and law enforcement. ¹¹

Projects and Initiatives

Resist US-Led War Movement does not regularly organize its own events and activism projects but rather promotes or endorse the events or statements made by other groups or post unsigned statements commenting on political events. ^{12 13}
