Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) UK is a medical aid organization based in London, England that operates in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon. According to its website, Medical Aid for Palestinians UK claims to be a “non-political, non-religious and non-sectarian humanitarian organisation,” despite also stating it engages with politicians and policymakers to “ensure Palestinians can access the healthcare they are entitled to,” adding that its advocacy work raises awareness of health issues under what it claims to be “occupation.” ^{1 2}

A founding trustee of MAP, orthopaedic surgeon Swee Chai Ang, sent an email in 2014 that endorsed a video produced by David Duke, a white supremacist politician and former Ku Klux Klan leader, which called the Federal Reserve Bank “the Zio Club,” and alleged that “Zios invaded and took over Walt Disney Corp. just as they invaded and took over Palestine.” She also proposed the creation of a “defence force for Gaza” in 2008. ^{3 4}

Anti-Israel Sentiment

The organization also co-produced a report titled “Trading Away Peace: How Europe helps sustain illegal Israeli settlements,” released in October 2012. ⁵

The Lawfare Project, alongside UK Lawyers for Israel, two pro-Israel legal groups, filed a complaint to the Charity Commission of England and Wales against MAP in 2018, accusing the organization of using funding for political propaganda. ³

Brooke Goldstein, director of the Lawfare Project, claimed that MAP was “injecting antisemitic poison into British public life,” further alleging that MAP was involved with NGOs affiliated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which is designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. ^{3 6}

The complaint also claimed that MAP promoted the play “Seven Jewish Children – A Play for Gaza,” which critics have called antisemitic. ^{3 7}

Despite claiming to be non-political, MAP released a petition calling for the U.K. Government to “take action” against Israel. The petition, titled “Demand Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper take action! Israel’s Genocide Isn’t Over” stated that the United Kingdom “must do everything it can to ensure a permanent end to Israel’s genocide,” adding that Israel had committed “atrocities” that cannot go “unpunished.” It also accused Israel of committing “illegal occupation and apartheid.” ⁸

The petition called for the suspension of all arms to Israel, as well as an end to all military cooperation, and to take “all possible steps” to end Israel’s “unlawful occupation.” ⁸

In December 2025, Israel expressed plans to revoke the license of MAP alongside other NGOs, as it failed to meet the requirements of Israel’s new registration rules. Less than 15 percent of NGOs were in violation of the new rules. ⁹

The new regulation framework included grounds for rejection, such as denying the existence of Israel as a “Jewish and democratic state”; denying the Holocaust or the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel on October 7, 2023; calling for boycotts against Israel; or promoting “delegitimization campaigns” against Israel. ⁹

People

As of 2026, the president of Medical Aid for Palestinians UK was Patricia Morris, who was also the chair of the Centre for Islamic Finance at the University of Bolton in England and a Conservative Party member of the U.K. House of Lords. She previously served in Conservative Party opposition front-benches as Shadow Minister for Education, Children, Families & Women and as Shadow Work and Pensions Spokesperson. ^{10 11}

Morris was previously a member of the board of trustees at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) UK; has served as a U.K. government Trade Envoy to Jordan, Kuwait and the Palestinian Territories; and was the chair of the Conservative Middle East Council. ¹²

Financials

Medical Aid for Palestinians UK receives most of its revenue from contributions and gifts. In 2024, the organization had a total revenue of £56.55 million (approximately $76.36 million); £43.78 million (around $59.54 million) came from contributions. Its expenses amounted to £35.2 million (approximately $47.54 million) that year, £24.5 million (around $33.04 million) of which was spent on “charitable activities.” ¹³
