Guide

Democracy Donors advises prospective donors interested in getting involved with the group to read its guide, “A Guide for New Political Funders.” The document is intended to help individuals become acquainted with the basics of being a donor. The Democracy Donors guide targets potential donors who are interested in supporting left-of-center and Democratic Party-aligned candidates and causes as well as combatting policies favored by former President Donald Trump. For instance, the guide details different varieties of nonprofit organizations, tips on getting in touch with political campaigns, and advice on how to form and join groups of like-minded donors. [1]

Particular donor and donor-oriented advocacy groups that the guide recommends include the Democracy Alliance, which the guide describes as “the closest thing the left has to the Koch Network,” a collective of donors oriented around building left-of-center political infrastructure organized as a taxable corporation; the Patriotic Millionaires, a group of individuals earning over $1 million each per year that advocates for left-wing economic policies; and state donor tables affiliated with State Voices and America Votes. [2]

Other left-of-center groups cited in examples of how prospective donors might go about supporting various causes include Swing Left, a fundraising and voter mobilization PAC; Planned Parenthood; NARAL Pro-Choice America; New Media Ventures, an organization that invests in new nonprofits that aim to to use advocacy and social media to further left-wing policies; and the All Hands on Deck Network (Movement Voter Project), a 501(c)(4) grantmaking and activist training organization. People

As of November 13, 2022, neither the website of Democracy Donors nor of any the documents available on it list the names of any organization or individuals officially associated with the group. However, the “Our Story” webpage implies that individuals opposed to policies of Donald Trump are in some way associated with the group. To that end, Democracy Donors instructs prospective donors interested in the help of the group to contact it via an impersonal email address registered at Gmail. [4] [5]
