The Bronx Anti-War Coalition is a far-left New York City-based organization that advocates for ending the U.S. military budget and reallocating that funding to community programs, public housing, health care, and other issue areas. Following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, the organization has focused on opposing what it calls the Israeli occupation of Palestine and in favor of a ceasefire in Gaza. The organization was also an endorser of the March on Washington for Gaza, a public demonstration on January 13, 2024 in Washington, D.C., at which attendees advocated for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. 1 2 3 4
Bronx Anti-War Coalition sometimes refers to itself as a “Lënapehòkink (Bronx) based working-class, BIPOC-led, anti-imperialist, direct-action coalition,” referring to the Lenape Indian tribes that lived on the northeastern seaboard of the United States before European colonization. 3
Mission
Bronx Anti-War Coalition is a far-left, anti-Israel activist organization located in the Bronx, New York. The principal goal of the organization is to end the U.S. military budget, which it claims upholds “U.S. imperialists interests all over the world” which engages in war “on behalf of corporations.” The organization asserts that funding the U.S. military deprives communities of resources for healthcare, housing, homelessness, schools, anti-addiction programs, and technology. 1
