Beyond Roe Coalition
The Beyond Roe Coalition is a left-of-center Massachusetts state-level advocacy coalition formed in 2022 following the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, which had established a nationwide right to abortion, in 2022. The three founding groups of the coalition are the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, ACLU Massachusetts, and Reproductive Equity Now. 1 2

Background
The Beyond Roe Coalition is a left-of-center advocacy group that was established in 2022 following the U.S Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. The three organizations that formed the coalition are the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, ACLU Massachusetts, and Reproductive Equity Now. 1 2
The coalition has argued for making “equitable abortion access a reality for all Bay Staters, regardless of race, ethnicity, income, zip code, gender identity, age, immigration status, ability, sexual orientation, or religion.” 1
The Beyond Roe Coalition has partnered with GLAD Law, a left-of-center law firm, to promote legislation that supports transgender medical procedures and abortion access. 3
Activities
According to its website, the Beyond Roe Coalition claims to have a three-part agenda: expanding abortion access, supporting abortion providers and those who have received abortions, and research and educating on abortion issues. 2
Part of the mission of the Beyond Roe Coalition is to remove perceived barriers to abortion procedures and furthering the ROE Act passed in Massachusetts in 2022, which codified abortion rights and removed what the group claims were barriers of parental consent for 16- to 17-year-olds to obtain an abortion. The group states it wants to expand this, stating “every person—regardless of age” should have ready access to abortions without the “interference or delays from parental consent or judicial bypass.” 2
The group also advocates for of cash discounts to be provided by hospitals and clinics for “later abortion procedures.” 2
The Beyond Roe Coalition advocates that medical abortion resources be made readily available on college campuses. Moreover, the group insists that abortions and “emergency contraception,” such as Plan B One-Step, should be covered by insurance providers and that state funds should go to local abortion funds and groups. 2
