    History and Activities

The Project Love Coalition is a veterans-focused homelessness advocacy nonprofit that provides health support, food, education, and affordable housing to homeless veterans and their families.  2

PLC states that “love, truth, peace, freedom and Justice” are “instructed by all GOD’s holy and divine prophets, Jesus, etc.” and are protected by the Constitution. PLC’s goal is to promote an “interfaith agri-eco movement” to promote the quality of life of veterans. PLC is also focused on the left-of center principles of inclusion and diversity, and attempts to help veterans access economic opportunities in the areas of arts, food access, conservation, wildlife, forestry, and outdoor recreation. 1

PLC supports the Peace and Friendship Farm, a veteran-led urban farm in Pittsburgh that teaches veterans how to become urban farm entrepreneurs; the Green S.E.S.S.E housing Collaborative to develop environmentally sustainable housing for veterans; and operates other garden sites. 4

As of September 2025, PLC was attempting to raise $5 million for an Agri Trade Institute Resource Center, a 10,0000 square foot center to provide housing to homeless veterans, host community engagement operations, and operate as a site for food pick up and drop off. 4

PLC was founded by Kent By in 2015. That year, a group of veterans met with then-Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto (D) about the cause of ending veterans’ homelessness, and Mayor Peduto asked if they would be willing to clean up vacant lots in the Hill District of the city to improve the quality of life for people. Bey then planted gardens in the area, including the Peace and Friendship Farm. 5

    People

The president and CEO of the Project Love Coalition is Kent Bey. Bey is also the “executive eco steward volunteer” of the Peace and Friendship Farm in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He was previously the president of the Stand Up Now Network, the director of Royal Tribe Music, a mentor with Pittsburg Public Schools, and received training on conservation farming from the Al-Gore-founded Climate Reality Project and on community organizing through the School of Unity and Liberation (S.O.U.L.), a radical-left activist training organization based in Oakland, California. 1  3

    Tax-Exempt Status and Financials

The Project Love Coalition had its tax-exempt status automatically revoked by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on May 15, 2025, after failing to file a tax return for three consecutive years. PLC’s last tax filing in 2021 indicated the organization had gross receipts of less than $50,000. 6

Project Love also received donations through United Way, a large philanthropic federation of over 1,800 local United Way groups. 7

The last public event listed on Project Love Coalition’s website was in September 2022. Until that time, the organization had reportedly held monthly meetings. 8
