The National Network of Fiscal Sponsors (NNFS) is a coalition of individuals and organizations that provide fiscal sponsorship for nonprofits and advocacy groups. NNFS is governed by a steering committee that includes several left-of-center groups including New Venture Fund and Tides. NNFS is fiscally sponsored by the left-of-center advocacy group TSNE MissionWorks. 1 2 3 4
Activities and History
National Network for Fiscal Sponsors (NNFS) is a coalition of individuals and organizations that provide fiscal sponsorship for nonprofits and advocacy groups. NNFS members also provide administrative services as well as legal and financial support. 1
NNFS provides research and publishes reports on fiscal sponsorship, including a 2023 report entitled “Fiscal Sponsor Field Scan 2023” that claimed to measure the growth of fiscal sponsorship over the previous two decades. 5
In October 2024, NNFS held an event for members in Atlanta, Georga titled “Advancing Collective Power through Fiscal Sponsorship.” NNFS previously held national gatherings for its members in 2022 and 2023. 6 7
Leadership
The National Network of Fiscal Sponsors (NNSF) is governed by a steering committee comprised of representatives from several left-of-center organizations. These include Community Initiatives, Community Partners, CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia, Earth Island Institute, Fractured Atlas, Baltimore-based Fusion Partnerships, New Venture Fund, NNFS fiscal sponsor TSNE MissionWorks, Tides, and Urban Affairs Coalition. NNFS claims that all steering committee members are volunteers. 2
TSNE MissionWorks
The National Network of Fiscal Sponsors (NNFS) is fiscally sponsored by TSNE MissionWorks, a consulting group that provides financial and operational support to left-of-center equity-based organizations. Services provided by TSNE include providing work and event spaces, nonprofit consulting, executive hiring, and providing fiscal sponsorship. Other groups fiscally sponsored by TSNE include Alliance for Nonprofit Management, Building Movement Project, Center to Support Immigrant Organizing, Collective Power for Reproductive Justice, Community Votes, Institute for Social and Economic Development, Policy Equity Group, Radical Imagination for Racial Justice, and Worker’s Justice Project. Fiscal sponsorship by TSNE includes financial aid, legal compliance, use of a 501(c)(3) exempt status, and a legal umbrella entity for sponsored organizations. 3 4 8 9
