The National Low Income Housing Policy Center (NLIHPC) is an advocacy and lobbying organization focused on affordable housing for low-income groups. The NLIHPC campaigns to preserve existing federal assistance for housing, to expand the availability of low-income housing, and to end homelessness. 1

Activities

In 2019, the National Low Income Housing Policy Center worked with congressional offices, state housing and homeless coalitions, and other advocacies around the country to educate and lobby for low-income housing legislation and causes. 2

NLIHPC worked with the Disaster Housing Recovery Coalition of more than 850 organizations to advance housing recovery following hurricanes in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, North Carolina, and South Carolina, as well as after wildfires in California. 2

The group advocated for legislative proposals such as a 10 percent increase in the budget of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), when the Trump administration planned to cut it by 15 to 20 percent; several disaster housing recovery bills; a bill to create housing vouchers to help low-income people; and a bill to create a national housing stabilization fund to protect families from eviction. 2

Financials

The National Low Income Housing Policy Center 2019 tax return shows $98,390 in revenue from contributions, gifts, and grants with $48,308 going to salaries and compensation. Net assets for the year were $3,042. 3
