In 2019, the foundation contributed to a number of center-right organizations that focus on promoting free market economic policies, 17 including the Manhattan Institute ($100,000) and the FreedomWorks Foundation ($100,000). 18

In 2019, the foundation contributed to a number of universities and educational nonprofits, including Success Academy Charter Schools ($3,955,000), Brown University ($850,000), Teach for America – New York ($250,000), Columbia University ($200,000), the Foundation for Excellence in Education ($50,000), the American Federation For Children – Growth Fund ($50,000) and New York University ($10,000). 19

In 2019 the foundation contributed to organizations that lobby for taxpayer funded support for abortions, 20 including the Center for Reproductive Rights ($50,000), Planned Parenthood of New York City ($5,000), and Planned Parenthood of Hudson Peconic ($5,000). 21

In 2019, the foundation contributed to organizations that seek to promote gender equality, including organizations such as the AHA Foundation ($50,000) that opposes child marriage, forced marriages, female genital mutilation and honor killings; 22 Equality Now ($100,000); and the left-of-center New York Women’s Foundation ($15,000). 23
LGBT Policy
In 2019, the foundation contributed to a number of nonprofits that focus on LGBT policy in the United States and Israel, 24 including A Wider Bridge ($25,000) and the LGBT Center of New York. 25
Jewish-American Organizations
In 2019, the foundation contributed to a number of nonprofits that provide services to the Jewish American community, including support for student travel to Israel through the Birthright Israel Foundation ($60,000), 26 organizations that provide support services to Jews in the U.S. prison system 27 such as the Aleph Institute ($200,000), 28 organizations that advocate on issues of interest to the Jewish community such as the Jewish Council for Public Affairs ($10,000), and organizations that support Jewish life on college campuses throughout the United States including Columbia Barnard Hillel ($20,000) and Brown Hillel RSD ($5,000). 29

Daniel Loeb is the president 30 and primary financial contributor of the Margaret and Daniel Loeb Foundation. 31 Loeb is the founder of Third Point Management, a New York-based hedge fund which also serves as the entity that receives grant requests for the foundation. 32
