Effective Voter Project

Type:

Left-of-Center Voter Mobilization Group

Project of:

New Venture Fund

The Effective Voter Project, also called the Effective Voter Research Project and the Effective Voter Participation Project, is a project of the left-of-center New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) funding and fiscal sponsorship managed by the for-profit consulting firm Arabella Advisors in Washington, DC.

The project’s goals and activities are unclear as it appears that the Effective Voter Project does not have a website and may, in fact, be defunct (as of February 2021). However, as late as 2017 the group received substantial funding from major left-of-center funders.

Funding

The Effective Voter Project is a fiscally sponsored project of the New Venture Fund, a Washington, DC-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. As such it does not file Form 990 reports with the IRS and all grants to it are paid to the New Venture Fund.

The project received grants (via New Venture Fund) from the Bauman Family Foundation totaling $223,000 between 2011 and 2017. [1]

The project received another $400,000 from the Ford Foundation in 2015. [2]
