Activities

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (COP) convenes a membership of 50 national Jewish organizations that seeks to advance the interests of the American Jewish community, support the State of Israel, and address concerns facing world Jewry. COP works publicly and behind the scenes to advance the relationship between the U.S. and Israel, support Israel’s security and prosperity, and reinforce links among Jews worldwide. 1

On June 21, 2025, COP released a statement supporting the U.S. defensive action taken against the Iranian nuclear threat. COP claimed that Iran threatens the existence of Israel, destabilizes the Middle East, and endangers the U.S. and its allies and commended President Donald Trump for “taking bold, preventative steps” to prevent a nuclear Iran. 3

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations aims to fight antisemitism and points to a pattern of intimidation and violence targeting Jews across the U.S. COP urges the federal government to aggressively prosecute antisemitic hate crimes, increase funding for local law enforcement to monitor and protect Jewish institutions, increase the FBI’s intelligence capabilities to prioritize and combat domestic terrorism, and to hold social media and other online platforms accountable for amplifying voices that support antisemitism, terrorism, disinformation, and incitement. 4

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is funded by membership dues and investment income. 5
