Centerline Action uses results from public opinion surveys to support its claim that Americans are more united than divided. Centerline Action states that there is a forgotten majority of Americans who want lawmakers from all sides to work collectively to create policies that would positively impact all Americans. To this end, Centerline Action seeks to advance centrist public policy solutions. 1
Centerline Action advocates for LGBT interests and points to surveys showing that 72% of registered voters believe that same-sex marriage should remain legal, which includes 56% of Republicans. 2 In a July 11, 2024 press release, Centerline Action president James Dozier applauded the Republican Party for formally removing its opposition to the same-sex marriages from its 2024 Party Platform. A 2024 report commissioned by Centerline Liberties, Centerline Action’s charitable arm, found widespread societal benefits from state recognition of such unions, including an increase in adoption rates and mortgage applications, enhanced public safety and health, and savings to the national health care system. 4
Centerline Action advocates for conservation investments and maintaining a clean energy infrastructure in the U.S. In a series of voter surveys commissioned by American Conservation Coalition Action, the Audubon Action Fund, and Centerline Action, results showed bipartisan support for maintaining funding for programs in the Farm Bill like conservation and climate-smart agriculture. Additionally, the survey results show that both Republicans and Democrats are looking to the U.S. Congress to protect and advance commonsense conservation solutions that can curb carbon emissions and improve the quality of our land, water, and wildlife. 5
Centerline Action is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses. While Centerline Action does not disclose its donors, tax filings confirm donations from the Clean Future Action Fund ($474,824 in 2022) 6 and Centerline Liberties ($143,500 in 2022). 7
