Agrarian Future Alliance is a fiscal sponsorship group that provides training and develops educational materials for minority farmers as well as those both newcomers and veterans of farming or those economically disadvantaged. 1 The group also provides research on “agrivoltaic techniques” while advocating how such methods can be used by new or minority farmers. 2 3 Agrarian Future Alliance is a fiscally sponsored project of Possibility Labs. 1

    Agrarian Future Alliance offers a mentorship program for new or ethnic-minority farmers in connection with American Solar Grazing Association (ASGA). 2 Agrarian Future Alliance trains farmers in, and promotes, “agrivoltaic techniques,” or solar grazing, which is the simultaneous use of land for solar energy and agriculture. 4

    Possibility Labs

    Agrarian Future Alliance is a fiscally sponsored project of Possibility Labs, which uses fiscal sponsorships and donor-advised funds (DAF) to allow separate organizations to benefit from its tax-exempt status and fundraising ability. 5 6

    Possibility Labs lists Agrarian Future Alliance as a Partner on its website. 7 Several of the partners on its list are fiscally sponsored projects of Possibility Labs including the Just Economy Institute (JEI). 8 9 Possibility Labs, which was founded by Keiko Murase and Lem White, claims to focus on “social and environmental justice” and alleges that its “systems, policies, and processes are designed to honor the cultures, histories, traditions, and needs of Black and Brown communities.” 5 10

    In 2022, Possibility Labs reported $46,742,841 in revenue and $20,919,752 in expenses, with $30,143,060 in total assets. 11 In 2022, Seeds Commons reported donating $1,000,000 to Possibility Labs. 12 In 2022, Urban Tilth, a left-of-center environmentalist organization that supports the Green New Deal, reported donating $500,000 to Possibility Labs. 11 13 In 2022, the Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN), a far-left organization that advocates for eliminating concentrated wealth and moving away from use of hydrocarbon fuels, reported donating $400,000 to Possibility Labs. 11 14

    The Ford Foundation reported donating $80,000 to Possibility Labs in 2024. 15

    People

    Amber Lehrman Dunn is the executive director at Agrarian Future Alliance, managing “all aspects” of the group including “finance, administration, accounting, programming and reporting.” 16

    Donna Daniels is the chief executive officer at Possibility Labs, having taken over in 2023 after the departure of co-founders Keiko Murase and Lem White. 10
