Memberships

Conklin Immigration Law is a coalition member of Evacuate Our Allies (EOA), a coalition of veterans’ groups, human rights organizations, religious groups, and refugee organizations advocating for the relocation and resettlement of as many at-risk Afghans to the United States as possible. 3

Conklin Immigration Law and its founder and practice lead, Lance Conklin, are also members of the national and Washington, D.C. chapters of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Christian Legal Society, and the Federal Bar Association. 4

Activism

Conklin Immigration Law has signed open letters to demonstrate its support for various legal issues related to immigration. In October 2023, Conklin Immigration Law signed a joint letter addressed to the Pakistani government asking it to halt the relocation of Afghan visa applicants fleeing persecution in Afghanistan. The letter argued that many relocated visa applicants are former interpreters, journalists, women’s rights activists, and others who face risks if returned to Afghanistan. 10

In August 2024, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Patterson, New Jersey filed a lawsuit against the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in pursuit of a reversal to the visa procedures for religious workers. After a 2023 change to the visa procedure, categories of applicants who were previously in a separate category, including minors from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, were added to the same queue as that of religious worker visas. Despite this addition of new applicants, Congress retained the cap of green cards to be issued per year, causing uncertainty and backlogs for foreign clergy in the United States. Lance Conklin (the founder of Conklin Immigration Law) commented on the lawsuit, arguing that the situation was “untenable” and harmful to clergy members. 11

In March 2025, Conklin Immigration Law joined over 4,000 individuals and organizations by signing an open letter addressed to United States Attorney General Pam Bondi. The letter sought to address what its signatories claimed were attacks by the Trump administration on the legal profession, particularly related to the administration’s investigations into private and corporate law firms and their alleged political activism. 2
