Jobs and Opportunity is a political action committee (PAC) affiliated with the Center for Innovative Policy, a left-of-center political advocacy group in Washington, D.C.

Background

Jobs and Opportunity is one of four groups formally related to the Center for Innovative Policy, a political advocacy group for Democratic candidates. The group was officially registered with the Federal Election Commission on July 22, 2016. 1

Funding

Between July 2016 and December 2016, Jobs and Opportunity received $1,957,510 in contributions. It received a total of $1,732,510 from the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) earmarked for primary election spending, $100,000 from the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Staff Union Committee on Political Education also for primary elections, and $125,000 from the National Education Association (NEA) Advocacy Fund. 2

From January 2017 through December 2018, the PAC received $53,923 from the Democratic Governors Association, $400,000 from State Victory Action, $50,000 from NEA Advocacy Fund, and $500,000 from Working for Working Americans. 3 4

From January 2019 through December 2020, the PAC received $1,070,000 in contributions. It received $20,000 from the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) and $1,050,000 from the NEA Advocacy Fund. 5 6

The PAC received $0 in contributions during the 2021-2022 election period and $0 in contributions during the 2023-2024 election period. 7 8

Grantmaking

Between July 2016 and December 2016, Jobs and Opportunity gave a total of $1.7 million to various political groups, including Put New Hampshire First, Good Jobs West Virginia, and Great American Media. 9

Between September 2018 and November 2018, it gave over $800,000 to A Stronger Ohio, a PAC for Democratic candidates in the state of Ohio. 10

Between September 2019 and November 2020, the PAC spent a total of $1,121,855. It gave $850,000 to the Democratic Governors Association, $50,000 to Salvemos a Puerto Rico, $150,000 to Good Jobs MT, and $70,000 to BlueGrass Values. 11

The PAC spent $0 in both the 2021-2022 and 2023-2024 election cycles, except $600 on operating expenses in the 2022 cycle. No operating expenses were paid during the 2024 cycle. 12 13
