Humane Society Legislative Fund PAC is the political arm of the Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF), the lobbying arm of the animal liberation group Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). The PAC supports HSLF’s animal rights agenda by supporting federal political candidates who support passing laws that would advance animal liberation.
While HSLF has the power to lobby, it cannot make direct contributions to candidates. The HSLF PAC intends to influence elections by donating to “animal-friendly candidates,” and organizing against candidates and organizations that support hunting and conventional farming like the National Rifle Association, hunters, and agricultural businesses.
In 2018, HSLF PAC received at least $424,050 in contributions, and contributed $360,500 to federal candidates. As of February 2020, HSLF PAC has received at least $195,314 in contributions, and contributed $102,500 to federal candidates.
