Blue CD2, or Blue CD2 New Mexico, is a left-progressive Super PAC that works to flip New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District from Republican control to Democratic control. The organization claims that the U.S. Representative representing the district as of August 2022, Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-NM) is an “unabashed Trumper and right-wing zealot.” ¹

Blue CD2 is a member of the Democratic Party-aligned coalition Field Team 6, which works to register new Democratic voters and retain the Democratic Congressional majority in the 2022 midterm elections. ²

Overview

Blue CD2, which is otherwise known as Blue CD2 New Mexico, is a left-progressive organization whose purpose is to try and flip New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District from Republican to Democratic. The organization also works to elect Democrats to other offices located in the district. The organization is based entirely in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District. ³

The organization supports Democratic nominee Gabe Vasquez in his 2022 race against incumbent Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-NM). The organization attacks Herrell as an extremist and criticizes her opposition to certifying President Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory in 2021. ⁴

The organization publicizes a statement of principles that is designed to attract the support of Democratic voters and support campaign messaging that purports to attract independent and middle-of-the-road voters. ⁵

The organization provides opportunities for people to sign up to volunteer to help campaign and canvass. It also works to register potential new Democratic voters. ⁶

Focus on Immigration

A major focus of the organization is the promotion of more permissive immigration policies. A section of its website focuses on left-progressive talking points on immigration. ⁷

Leadership

The co-chair of Blue CD2 is Ricann Bock. She has been the co-chair of the organization since September 2021. According to her LinkedIn profile, she previously did freelance work for a Democratic Party organization in New York State. ⁸

As of June 30, 2022; the organization has raised $17,991 and spent $951.77 in the 2022 election cycle. ⁹
