Wrong Speak Publishing is an online media outlet and book publisher that posts news articles and commentary on its website. 1 The company notes that its name derives from the notion of “wrong speak” in the writings of British novelist and journalist George Orwell and contends many Americans feel their voices are suppressed. 1

Media commentator Adam B. Coleman founded the company. 2

Background

Wrong Speak Publishing publishes news articles and commentary on its website, as well as print books. The company contends that it is an outlet for people to be uninhibited in how they express themselves. 1

Founder Adam B. Coleman objected to what he perceived to be a prominent media narrative in 2020 that Black men feared constant danger from police. He said he talked to others who felt as he did, which encouraged him to write about the topic. He also said he found that pundits regardless of ideology did not represent the views of normal people, and this led him to establish Wrong Speak Publishing. 3

The company says the website’s opinion section is a zone for writers to freely express opinions, in the belief that many Americans feel they are suppressed in the mainstream media. 1 It says its opinion section features articles written by people from all walks of life. 1

It also says the website is an avenue to cover news stories that other media outlets ignore. 1

The outlet says its goal is that Americans can “express themselves as intellectually honest as possible.” The company does not take a stance on anything expressed on the website, and says it tries to be fair to opinions even if company leadership does not agree with the expressed views. It says it frequently publishes articles that conflict with each other. 1
