The Santa Monica Coalition is a now largely defunct project of Safe Cities, a political committee that was founded to promote good governance and the restoration of order in the face of urban dysfunction in the Santa Monica area. The coalition was active in 2023, when it was founded, and promoted various reforms and resolutions to the City Council that were not adopted. The coalition’s activity as of October 2025 appeared to be limited to posting on the group’s X (formerly Twitter) account about dysfunction, drug use, and homelessness issues in the area. ^{1  2  3}

Founding and History

The Santa Monica Coalition is a project of the Safe Cities California registered political committee, Safe Cities, which was founded in 2023. The group was formed to work against spreading urban dysfunction, including public drug use, homeless camps, and government-funded nonprofits working in the homelessness inactivist industry that it argues are undermining the quality of life of residents. ^{4  1}

As of October 2025, the group appears to be largely inactive, having less than $100 in cash on hand. Most news items and reports on the group’s website are years old, and its activity seems to be limited to posting on the group’s X (Twitter) account. ^{4  1  3}

Financials

As of October 2025, the Santa Monica Coalition, as a project of Safe Cities reported $16 in cash on hand and no reported revenue for the 2026 election cycle. Since the group’s formation, it had received a total of $17,663 in contributions and spent $19,461 up until that point. ⁴

Its largest historic vendor expenditures are listed as $7,800 for Mom’s Computer,  a Los Angeles IT service and computer repair shop, and $5,000 for Political Reporting Plus, a full service political campaign consultancy that provides accounting and other services to political organizations. ⁴

Organization Philosophy

The Santa Monica Coalition has a right-of-center orientation. It is very concerned with the increase of urban dysfunction and is opposed to the network of nonprofit organizations that carry out homelessness activism in the area, many of which owe their existence to government funding. It is also opposed to the government or nonprofits distributing drug needles to drug users, arguing that it frequently leads to used needles being discarded in public places, which is dangerous to everyone else. ^{3  1  2}

Projects and Initiatives

As of October 2025, the Santa Monica Coalition did not appear to have any active projects underway. Its activity was limited to posting on X (Twitter) about crime and urban dysfunction in Santa Monica and the surrounding area, often emphasizing the proliferation of drugs and disruptions and disorder caused by homelessness. ^{3  1}

When the group was more active in 2023, it proposed a number of measures to the Santa Monica City Council dealing with disorder and homelessness. These included various proposals for changing how homelessness is dealt with, drug needle distribution, and concerns about accountability for nonprofits receiving vast sums of money to house and assist homeless people. ²

Leadership

John Alle is a co-founder of the Santa Monica Coalition. Alle is the founder and president of John Alle Company, a real estate consulting and management firm operating in the Los Angeles area. ^{5  6}
