    Cedar Key Progress is a left-leaning advocacy group that supports the right to travel for abortion, 2 labor unions, 3 and the establishment of universal background checks for gun purchases. 4

    The nonprofit is committed to helping Democrats win in politically competitive southern states like Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. 1

    Advocacy Efforts

    From May 18 to May 22, 2023, Cedar Key Progress polled 400 Floridians to highlight opposition to regulations on LGBT-themed books in school libraries and Governor Ron DeSantis’s (R) attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. 5

    Cedar Key Progress collaborated with Action Network to call for the impeachment of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for displaying a US flag flown upside down after the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol attack. 6

    To celebrate Pride Month in June 2023, the nonprofit put up six billboards in Florida with the message: “In Florida … We Say Gay!” 7

    Cedar Key Progress has instigated petitions supporting the restoration of voting rights for felons, 8 LGBTQ policies, 9 the impeachment of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, 10 on-campus polling places, 11 and, in vitro fertilization. 12

    In July 2023, Cedar Key Progress opposed a Florida law that banned Chinese nationals from buying homes and land in the U.S., describing it as a “racist land ban” reminiscent of “alien land laws from the Chinese exclusion era.” 13

    The nonprofit opposes cuts to programs for seniors in the name of addressing the U.S. debt ceiling problem, 14 “conversion therapy” for LGBT people, 11 the death penalty, 15 and restrictions on abortions. 16

    Cedar Key Progress has called for the prosecution of former President Donald Trump. 17 The nonprofit posted on X/Twitter that the election of a Democratic president is the only way to save democracy in the U.S. 18
