Nevada Housing Coalition (NHC)

Activities

The Nevada Housing Coalition is a membership organization that attempts to raise awareness about the need to increase the amount of affordable housing in Nevada, including through legislative advocacy.  ¹ NHC was founded in 2018 as a collaboration between government officials, private sector organizations, and nonprofits. ⁵

NHC advocates that the State of Nevada spend $500 million on affordable housing, which it argues would create 2,800 affordable housing units and preserve 1,077 housing units. ⁶ NHC also operates the ElevateNV Affordable Housing program with a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco. This program supports organizations in Nevada that seek to expand affordable housing. ²

Other programs of NHC include the Supportive Housing Academy, which creates a forum for funders, developers, and government and housing and service providers to share knowledge on affordable housing, as well as a mentorship program to support capacity building among housing development professionals. ^{3  4}

In 2025, NHC hosted a conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Circa Resort and Casino called “Lights, Camera Housing! Directing Change.” The conference reportedly had 300 registered attendees. Sessions at the conference focused on how to deal with zoning in Nevada, how Nevada’s affordable housing compares with other states, how to build “sustainable communities,” Medicaid support for housing, and how to finance energy efficiency upgrades to housing. ^{7  8}

People

The executive director of the Nevada Housing Coalition is Maurice Page. Page became the executive director of NHC in October 2023. Previously, he was the founder and owner of Page Strategic Solutions and the executive director of New Genesis. ^{1  9}

The chair of the board of NHC is Lorri Murphy of Ovation Development, and the vice chair is J.D. Klippenstein of the Reno Housing Authority. ¹

Partners of the Nevada Housing Coalition include the CARES Housing Assistance, Nevada Housing Search, Home Means Nevada, Nevada Legal Services, the Silver State Fair Housing Council, Nevada 2-1-1, Legal Aid of Southern Nevada, Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada, Nevada HAND, the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, HelpHopeHome, HELP of Southern Nevada, HopeLink of Southern Nevada, and the Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada.  ¹⁰

NHC is also a member of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, which advocates for increased government spending on housing programs, and the Nevada/California Indian Housing Association. ⁶

Institutional members of NHC include Anthem, JP Morgan Chase, Nevada Hand, Nevada Rural Housing, the Northern Nevada Building Trades Development Corporation, the NRP Group, Powershift, the NDA Housing Group, Ovation, and the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority. ¹¹

Financials

According to tax filings, in 2023, the Nevada Housing Coalition reported $760,835 in revenue, $825,315 in expenses, and $574,470 in assets. Of its expenses, NHC reported spending $636,464 on the Elevate NV mentorship program to connect mentors in the affordable housing space with those in need of professional development and access to affordable housing. Of its revenue, NHC received $43,285 from gifts and other contributions, and $102,215 from membership dues. NHC membership fees range from $55 to $5,500. ^{12  11}

NHC reported receiving grants from major financial institutions, including Charles Schwab Bank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, US Bank, and JPMorgan Chase. ¹
