National People’s Action (NPA) is an activist group known for its practice of aggressive agitation tactics to advance “economic and radical justice.” 1 Founded in 1972 by Methodist minister Shel Trap and Chicago-based activist Gale Cincotta, the NPA is also an umbrella organization of several state-based social change groups. 2 In 2016, NPA, along with left-leaning groups USAction Education Fund and Alliance for a Just Society, merged to create the People’s Action Institute. 3 The organization signed a petition supporting the Green New Deal. 4
