The LGBTQ Poverty Initiative is a center-left research and advocacy group that publishes on gay and lesbian issues. The Initiative was initially formed and staffed by The Vaid Group, a for-profit consulting firm. ¹

The LGBTQ Poverty Initiative’s funders and members include the Center for American Progress, Wellspring Philanthropic Fund, Ford Foundation, New York Women’s Foundation, Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, Family Equality Council, National Center for Lesbian Rights, National LGBTQ Task Force, Trans Women of Color Collective, The Vaid Group, Whitman-Walker Health, City University of New York’s (CUNY) Graduate Center Social Justice Sexuality Project, and the Williams Institute at UCLA Law School. ²
