Get Loud Arkansas! is an advocacy organization that seeks to register individuals, engage and mobilize voters, and oppose alleged voter suppression. Get Loud Arkansas! calls for same-day registration and voting, opposes voter ID requirements and signature match verification, and advocates reduced parole times for criminals to allow more people to vote. To expand voter rolls, Get Loud Arkansas! relies on regional coordinators and volunteers for voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts, phone calls and texting to voters, and community forums.

History

Get Loud Arkansas! was launched in December 2021 by Arkansas State Senator Joyce Elliott (D-Little Rock). 1 Get Loud Arkansas! was modeled on former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’s left-of-center Fair Fight in Georgia. 2 The mission of Get Loud Arkansas! is to make voting easier, educating citizens on voting requirements, registering new voters, engaging with low propensity voters, fighting against perceived voter suppression, and mobilizing voters

Issues and Programs

State Senator Joyce Elliott (D-Little Rock) has stated that “Arkansas does a really good job of making it difficult to vote.” 3 Elliott said that requiring voter ID is an unnecessary barrier for people to vote. 4 Elliott also questions a matching signature requirement for voters stating that poll workers are not handwriting experts. 5 Elliott advocates for same-day registration and voting on election day. 6

Get Loud Arkansas! states that voices are being silenced by a coordinated effort to restrict access to voting. 7 Get Loud Arkansas! seeks donations to provide voter information cards, register voters, host community forums, mobilize voters, and expand an online presence. 8 Joyce Elliott stated it is not enough to register voters, but the group attempts to get people to the polls. 9

Get Loud Arkansas! engages voters through phone calls, a texting program, and staff and volunteers in communities. 10 For the 2022 election, Get Loud Arkansas! hired a director of civic engagement and three regional coordinators. 11 In 2022, Get Loud Arkansas! targeted and attempted to re-register over 104,000 Arkansas that had been removed from voter rolls for inactivity. 12 Get Loud Arkansas! states that it works within the LGBTQ community to make sure people transitioning are properly registered to vote. 13 Get Loud Arkansas! recruited poll watcher volunteers for the 2022 election. 14
