The Carbon Tax Center (CTC) is an environmentalist advocacy group that promotes the adoption of carbon taxes on the state and federal level. Daniel Rosenblum and Charles Komanoff founded CTC to promote the adoption of carbon taxes. 1 CTC promotes carbon tax policies through the blogs and social media promotion.

CTC was supportive of the Green New Deal proposed in 2019, with the group’s main criticism of the far-left proposal being its lack of a carbon tax. 2 CTC said it “believe[s] a carbon tax can and should be a key part of any Green New Deal package.” 3

Funding

CTC has received funding from the following organizations: the Alex C. Walker Educational and Charitable Foundation, the Bittersdorf Family Foundation, the Jewish Communal Fund, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the Schwab Charitable Fund, and the Common Sense Fund. 4

The Alex C. Walker Educational and Charitable Foundation gave CTC $8,000 in 2016. 5 The Bittersdorf Family Foundation gave the group $10,000 in 2016. 6 The Jewish Communal Fund $10,200 to CTC in both 2016 and 2017, totaling $20,400. 7 The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation gave $8,000 to CTC in 2014. 8 The Schwab Charitable Fund donated $10,000 to CTC 2015. 9 The largest and most frequent contributor to CTC has been the Common Sense Fund, granting $5,000 in 2007, $25,000 in 2008 and $12,750 in 2010. 10
