The group was founded in 2023 by high school student Scout “Faith” Cardillo, who has also worked as a volunteer for gun control advocacy group Students Demand Action. Cardillo advocates educating people on gun violence and particularly its impact on the LGBT community. 2

    Background

Bulletproof Pride organizes its advocacy work into five “networks”: Impact (sharing survivor stories), Rapid Response (mobilizing for events), Creativity (art-based advocacy), Equity (focusing on marginalized groups), and Administrative (operations and support). 3

The organization has local chapters across the country, including one located in Washington, D.C. The organization has previously organized events and activism to protest policies set by the second Trump administration. 4 5 6

    Advocacy

Bulletproof Pride was listed as a partner organization organizing and participating in the anti- second Trump administration “No Kings” protests which occurred on June 14, 2025.  7

In June 2025, the group’s executive director Scout “Faith” Cardillo released a statement responding to the U.S Supreme Court’s ruling that parents in the Montgomery County, Maryland school district would be able to pull their children from lessons or classes which use LGBT-themed books or novels. Cardillo claimed, “It’s absolutely damaging for LGBTQ youth going forward, because if you don’t see yourself in materials and you don’t see yourself, actually, in curriculum and being represented, it makes it feel like you’re not even there.” 8

    Financials

Bulletproof Pride uses ActBlue Civics’ tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(4) to collect donations. 9 10 Bulletproof Pride received tax exempt status in 2024, and has reported no public tax forms as of July 2025. 11

Initial funding included a 2023 GoFundMe that raised $1,580 as of July 2025 of a $2,000 goal. 12

Scout “Faith” Cardillo is the founder and executive director of Bulletproof Pride. Cardillo formed the organization in 2023 as a high school student.
