Arizonans For Responsible Government is nominally a left-of-center advocacy group. It is a registered trade name of the Hopewell Fund, a nonprofit controlled by the for-profit consulting firm Arabella Advisors. 1

Founding and History

As of March 2020, there exists no public information about Arizonans for Responsible Government outside of its listing as a trade name of the Hopewell Fund on the group’s publicly available 2018 tax filings. 2

Arizonans for Responsible Government is likely another instance of what the Hopewell Fund’s critics call “pop-up’s,” or websites that are created to give the appearance of a standalone, localized nonprofit; in actuality, the websites and nonprofits fall beneath the Fund’s umbrella, the recipients of Arabella Advisors’ so-called “dark money.” 3

This is done to make it seem as if the Hopewell Fund’s left-of-center policies have broad, local support, when it is really centralized direction from the Arabella Advisors network itself. 4
