The Anglosphere Society (TAS) is an educational membership organization that promotes free-markets, cultural events related to the international community of English-speaking peoples, and the “special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom. 1

Activities

Founded in 2012, the Anglosphere Society provides a network to American Anglophiles and expatriates; holds forums with leaders of government, industry, and media; and supports the alliance of the U.S. and U.K. through arts, cultural, finance-related, and security-related events. 2 TAS has collaborated on events with organizations such as the New Criterion, Business Executives for National Security, the Reason Foundation, and the Gatestone Institute. 3

The Anglosphere Society operates three councils to support its mission. The Anglosphere Arts Council (AAC) promotes the U.S.-U.K. alliance on a cultural level through arts, music, literature, and historical travel. AAC maintains collaborative relationships with many Churchill institutions and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s Alma Mater, Somerville College. The Anglosphere Financial Council (AFC) promotes free market economics, especially as concerning over-regulation. The Anglosphere Security Council (ASC) encourages greater cooperation between Anglosphere countries on issues of security and defense. 4

The Anglosphere Society is also concerned with the persecution of Christians throughout the world. To this end, TAS dedicates a portion of its website to articles describing religious persecution published by concerned organizations like the Gatestone Institute, the Catholic News Agency, the Catholic Herald, and the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. 5

Funding

The Anglosphere Society is funded through its membership dues, which are currently $150 annually for an individual. 6

The Anglosphere Society is also funded by donations from other organizations. While TAS does not disclose other donors, tax filings confirm donations from the Mercer Family Foundation ($25,000 in 2017), 7 the William H. Donner Foundation ($18,500 in 2019), 8 and the Achelis and Bodman Foundation ($15,000 in 2020). 9
